Submission Guidelines for Nonfiction
Wilder Voice’s primary editorial goal is to publish true stories, including longform journalism, essays, memoir, interviews, criticism, and more. Submissions for the print magazine are accepted during the first few weeks of every semester, and submissions for web publication are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the academic year.
We are not looking for completed pieces, but rather pitches that writers will develop into polished final products over the course of the semester, in conjunction with the Wilder Voice staff; every nonfiction piece goes through multiple rounds of editing, copy-editing, and fact-checking before publication. Pitches should be one or two paragraphs long, and should briefly outline the story that you want to tell and why you are the right person to tell it. If you’re having trouble turning your idea into a concise pitch, don’t hesitate to email us—we are happy to help you come up with a pitch that will wow us!
Submission Guidelines for Fiction, Poetry, Visual Art, etc.
Every semester, Wilder Voice publishes several works of fiction, poetry, drama, translation, etc., alongside a healthy smattering of visual art. Multimedia works are also considered for web publication. Submissions for the print magazine are accepted until the final weeks of the semester, and submissions for web publication are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the academic year.
Written submissions should be polished and proofread; art submissions should be in high-quality digital format. For longform works, please submit no more than three pieces per semester; for shortform works and art, please submit no more than ten pieces per semester.
